Process Engineer Co-Op (Summer 2024)

About the Job

Our process engineers work closely with our controls, packaging, mechanical, and building system professionals to scope, design, layout, install, and commission food and beverage processing systems.   You will work on multi-disciplinary project teams and have an opportunity to perform, practice, and apply a wide range of process engineering skills in this role. Typical responsibilities include: 

  • Developing process design basis and select unit operations
  • Preparing process flow and piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Preparing mass and energy balances
  • Sizing and specification of process and process utility equipment
  • Equipment procurement and bid evaluation
  • Assisting project management with the development of project scope, budget and schedule for all process related work
  • Helping to coordinate the schedules and work of contractors for process equipment installation
  • Overseeing process and utility equipment installations
  • Start-up and commissioning
  • On-site construction project coordination and management with potential travel requirements between 20-40%.

About You 

  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Familiarity with process flow diagrams and P&IDs is a plus
  • Interest in food safety and sanitary design principles and a desire learn about various food and beverage industry standards, practices, and regulations 
  • Experience with MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD
  • Past process experience in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, or other sanitary environments is a plus
  • Have a motivated and results orientated attitude.
  • GPA: 3.0 or above
