Entry Level CAD Drafter/Designer (Plant 3D experience)

Job Summary

The CAD Drafter / Designer position is a solid foundation for a career in architecture, process equipment/piping design, and facility design.  The role adequately creates drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software both in 2D and 3D formats in designing mechanical, electrical, piping, plumbing, and equipment layouts for our design build food and beverage process facility projects.  The role will require knowledge in areas architectural concepts, practices, regulations, standards, and building materials.  Responsibilities include but not be limited to:

Responsibilities

  • Create design drawings with computer-aided design (CAD) software both in 2D and 3D formats, at the direction of engineers and more senior designers
  • Coordinate with Designers, Architects, Engineers, and Project Managers to produce design drawings per project specifications.
  • Read architectural drawings, mechanical/electrical/plumbing drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment layouts, and piping plans.
  • Analyze available information to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete design drawings
  • Ensure drawings comply with building regulations and architectural standards
  • Prepare documents to a level consistent with set quality standards while maintaining project schedules
  • Take responsibility for the development and coordination of small drawings sets.
  • Work with client and engineering disciplines to define requirements in the preparation of design and construction documents
  • Check finished drawings against markup and CAD Standards
  • Manage multiple tasks and meet established deadlines
  • Work with BIM360, Navisworks and MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel), Computer-aided design (CAD), AutoCAD 2020 and Plant 3D
  • Assist construction managers with coordination issues in the field.
  • Researching CAD drafting / designing best practices
  • Supporting talent growth within our organization

Required Education Skills and Experience

  • Associate Degree is required.  A bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related filed is preferred.   
  • 0-3 years of work experience or schooling in computer-aided drafting and design setting for food and beverage processing facilities or similar production facilities.
  • 0-3 years of work experience or schooling in AutoCAD
  • 0-3 years of work experience or schooling in Plant3D, CADWorx or similar programs
  • Revit, Inventor experience a plus
  • Experience with design of Food and Beverage processes a plus
  • Travel to client construction sites will be required of this position, not less than 20% of the year.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift-up to 15 pounds at times.

Travel Requirement

  • Up to 20% travel required to visit project site and other offices.
